Giovanna lost 33 pounds

Transformation of the Day: Giovanna lost 33 pounds. She began her journey because she wanted to heal her gut, clear her acne, and improve overall health. On her journey, she fell in love with running and lifting weights. She also learned that mental discipline necessary to create a lasting lifestyle change.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I initially started my healthy journey because I kept experiencing acne, and I believed that if I could heal my gut, that would also help heal my ailments. So I started eating healthy food and working out more.

What made me decide to be consistent was seeing drastic results. I felt so much cleaner on the inside. I began to set and reach my physical goals as well, one recently being running my first half marathon! Now I’m in love with running and lifting weights!

How did you change your eating habits?
I started by cutting dairy from my diet and ordering healthier alternatives whenever I ate out. I incorporated more smoothies (both fruit and vegetable smoothies) into my routine. I shied away from fried foods and leaned more towards the grilled options.

It’s about slowly adapting to change and not drastically changing your diet because you can relapse that way. Also, drinking at least 48 ounces of water a day helped me flush out fat.

What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I usually run a minimum of 7 miles a week, and I lift weights at the gym. I alternate between upper body and lower body exercises to help shock my body. I also do HIIT workouts on Youtube if I cannot make it to the gym to work out or I go to the park to run.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 230 pounds, and my current weight is 197 pounds.

What is your height?
I’m 5’4″.

When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in April 2020, and my transformation took about a year. I’m still working on losing more weight.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned thus far is that everything is mental. It takes mental discipline to choose healthier food alternatives or get out and work out. I’ve also learned that what you eat plays a primary role in losing weight.

What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice is to find your WHY! Also, don’t compare your Day 1 to someone else’s Day 2,346! Only look to other people for inspiration, not envy. Be consistent, keep the course, and your time will come!

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.
